Wednesday July 8, 2020 saw the official installation of Ako Takem Chancel as the new Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Contracts. At 10:30 am, the conference room of the “A” block was already full with officials of the ministry and invitees of the new Secretary General. At exactly 11am, Talba Malla Ibrahim, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Public Contracts walked in, took the floor and started by appreciating the outgoing Secretary General Fritz Gerald Nasako, the man whom he referred to as his backbone for 16 months, working tirelessly and making giant strides in public Contracts reforms and ensuring harmonious follow-up of projects and realizations since taking over in December 2015.
“Alongside all these reforms, you gave me the necessary support in strengthening our ministry within the institutional landscape through activities whose enumeration would be tedious. The collaborators of the central and devolved services had the opportunity to enjoy your excellent managerial skills, your open-mindedness and your easy going temperament.”
Addressing the new Secretary General in the presence of his kith and kin including traditional and political authorities especially from the Manyu Division where he comes from, the MINDEL congratulated him and at the same time presented him with a list of expectations in his capacity as the new administrative head of the ministerial department.
He tasked him amongst others to tread on the path of his predecessor who has left an indelible mark in the ministry’s timeline.
He is expected to ensure the follow-up of the sanctioning process of application texts of Public Contracts as well as ensure the capacity building of staffs, of the central and devolved services. Apart from the above, the MINDEL equally reminded him to stay true to his statutory responsibilities of
– Coordinating actions;
– Codifying procedures;
– General discipline of personnel and most importantly the permanent quest for efficiency in actions.
It is worth noting that during the installation ceremony the technological know-how of the computer department was showcased through a video conference which permitted seven out of the ten regional delegates to watch the ceremony live from their various regions.
Ako Takem Chancel was born on May 31, 1972 at Minta, in the Upper Sanaga Division of the Centre Region. He has held posts of responsibility in different ministries before his appointment by Decree N° 2020/353 of June 30, 2020.
