he Korea International Cooperation Agency, KOICA, has introduced an E-procurement system in the Ministry of Public Contracts.

The new system has been introduced to simplify and guarantee transparency in the process of awarding contracts in the public service.
During the official launch at the Hilton in Yaounde a Korean expert, Song Woo Sang through an electronic projection demonstrated how efficient the new system will be in: E-bidding, award of contracts and follow-up management, document distribution, and E-building.
Also during the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cameroon His Excellency Lim Jae-Hoon praised the system which he emphasized will enhance transparency, accountability and effectiveness in the public service.
The diplomat also said the system will not only be helpful to government but to private companies and service providers.
The Minister at the Presidency in charge Public Contracts Abba Sadou said the system shall help in the fast treatment of public documents and will involve actors in all domains.
The program he further said will upgrade the status of his Ministry in the International spheres as the processing of contracts will greatly be improved upon.
The launch of the new programme coincided with the closing of an existing programme, the E-procurement Master Plan establishment Project piloted by the Koreans in the Ministry of Public Contracts since 2012.
It is worth indicating that in their partnership with the government of Cameroon, the Korea Agency has for the past expressed keen interest in technology, scholarships, vocational training, mining, maritime .
The resent system has proven its worth and was nominated in 2012 in Latin America as the best e-government model.
Minister Abba Sadou was accompanied by the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Communication and the Minister of Women Empowerment and the Family.
